If you’re making a trip to Rochester then you will need a place to stay. Presumably, if you are not staying with a friend or family member you will need to take up residence for the time in one of many Rochester hotels. One can find places to stay by looking through traditional sources of information such as the yellow pages and newspaper, but the internet and it’s search engines may be of the most use, as they provide instant and tailored information.

Many Rochester blogs attached to websites tailored specifically for reviewing areas of the city such as hotels and restaurants may also be of use to you. A blog, for those who may not be familiar with the term is a site used to publish discussions or information in a reverse chronological order. Websites frequented by locals may be the best source of information as those who blog rochester events and locations can provide you with a local and insider perspective. After all, when in Rome, do as the Romans do. Many are used to discuss opinions, reviews and articles of that nature, making them a great way to search for facts and opinions from a very wide variety of writers and users.

The city of Rochester caters to many staying in hotels as the city is a hub of international business, being the home of a number of major companies such as Kodak, Xerox, Bausch and Lomb and Paychex. Parents moving their children into some of Rochester’s major colleges such as the University of Rochester and the Rochester Institute of Technology would also frequent Rochester hotels. Rochester is also a city with many historical connections and many travel to the city to experience it’s wealth of museums, art and culture. Areas such as Mount Hope Cemetery, the Memorial Art Gallery and Museum of Play are major draws.

A Rochester hotel also has the fame, or infamy depending on how one views it as being the site of a very rock and roll event in 1976. Artists David Bowie and Iggy Pop were nabbed at a Rochester hotel following a concert. Felony possession of marijuana was the cause but Bowie was only held for a few hours before being released. More on this.
